Grant has been involved in Laing family businesses for more than 43 years with a background in civil earthworks, house relocation and transportable housing.
Grant is a trader, who loves meeting people. He can provide solutions and advice to sometimes very unique and challenging projects. Grant successfully launched Laing’s new transportable and onsite construction division in 2001 but his core trading activity has been the successful buying, selling and refurbishment of second hand buildings and building relocation.
Grant serves on the Rotary Club of Avonhead and in his spare time enjoys gardening, boating and enjoying time with his grandchildren.
Myles is the third generation of Laings to be involved in his family business and has a total 16 years’ experience within the construction industry. Myles previously worked for a high end architectural builder for six years prior to Laings and is LBP qualified.
Myles focuses on pricing and liaising with clients, along with managing the construction division. He believes everyone has their own story and it is his job to listen and tailor a solution for their new home. Myles brings a strong passion and interest for design and architecture which he enjoys incorporating into projects.
He may be the last to leave the office most days, but Myles often heads out for a surf and enjoys relaxing with friends and family.
Tim has spent the previous eight years in management and recovery roles, operational management and delivery for government and private organisations. With around a year and a half at Laings, Tim’s role is the overall operational management of the relocation division. Tim is responsible for quoting and resourcing jobs, tendering, business development and retention. Tim is a problem solver with a ‘can-do’ attitude to every situation, always trying to make the square peg fit in the round hole and believes we should never stop learning.
Tim enjoys spending time with his partner and young family and runs his own small blueberry business, Berries Direct.
Ash has been part of the Laing team for 5 years and has 15 years in the construction industry, having completed a variety of builds including motels, apartments, retirement units and architectural homes.
Ash has NZQA qualifications in carpentry, leading hand, holds a current LBP in Carpentry & Site 1 along with several H&S qualifications.
As the Construction Manager Ash oversees all new building works from start to finish. Ash liaises daily with contractors and foreman while using his experience to meet our client’s needs; priding himself on completing the works on time and within budget.
In Ash’s spare time he enjoys flying helicopters, traveling and is currently a member of Canterbury Property Investors.
Peter has enjoyed a successful career in sales with the last 5 years in the transportable home sales market and the last year at Laing Properties.
He has a strong understanding of how prefabricated buildings can work for our clients and can solve potential issues with quality outcomes to meet timeframes and budgets. Peter listens to his clients to understand their project and expectations which enables him to customise a tailored solution to meet their individual requirements.
Peter is a father of four who enjoys spending time with family and friends, hill tramps, gardening and travel.
Malcolm has spent 40 years working for various Laing family businesses and 43 years in total within the transport industry. He is a qualified over dimension pilot and truck driver.
At Laings Malcolm is responsible for quoting our contract shifting work, undertaking route surveys for building delivery and access, ensuring we have all the required permits and escorts as well as managing our large fleet of vehicles.
Malcolm has an extensive knowledge of transport routes and corridors throughout the South Island. If there is a way to get a building there, he will find it!
Malcolm has an amazing talent for photography and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
Jenny joined the Laing team in 2012 after spending most of her career working in retail management.
Jenny is responsible for managing the administration team and the financial functions of the business including accounts payable and receivable, job and labour costings, and cash management. Jenny also manages the HR & payroll duties and contract documentation within the business. Jenny is often the ‘go-to’ for a majority of the Laing team having an extensive knowledge of all administration functions and daily happenings.
When Jenny is not working she is a busy Mum of three very sporty children, enjoys spending time with her fiancée and is working on her crazy cat lady status.
Stephanie has been part of the Laing team for almost 3 years and has a strong background in accounts and data entry. Stephanie’s attention to detail sees her being responsible for maintaining our Health and Safety documentation as well as our marketing brochures and website. She also assists with accounts and contract documentation.
Stephanie shares the reception area at Laings so she is one of the first people you will meet when you visit our office and is happy to assist or point you in the right direction. Stephanie loves to spend time with her son, doing anything outdoors and enjoys a nice glass of wine or two.
