1.

GET THE RIGHT SITE

First and foremost, your selected site must comply with Building Code rules and regulations in order to receive your Laing transportable home. The first thing to check is whether it will be legally possible to relocate a home onto the site.

There are two things to look for:

  • Restrictions relating to the site itself
  • Local Authority / Council restrictions

GET THE RIGHT HOUSE

Laing has raised the standard of building quality transportable homes and cottages. We have a great variety of plans to choose from.

We understand the importance of good design and engage Architects and Structural Engineers to collaborate with us to ensure our transportable homes provide and seamlessly embrace contemporary living requirements.

OUR 6 STEP PROCESS

  1. Initial enquiry
  2. Consultation and preliminary design
  3. Contract offer and contract acceptance
  4. Detailed design. Planning & consents
  5. Site visit
  6. Construction, delivery, maintenance

GET THE RIGHT CONSENTS

A number of consents need to be applied for prior to the construction and delivery of your new transportable home. These consents include:

  • Yard Construction Consent
  • Site Consent from Local Council
  • Resource Consent

GET THE RIGHT FINANCE

A Laing Transportable Home can save you a lot of money but if you need to borrow in order to get the transportable home of your dreams there are a couple of critical factors you need to be aware of.

Typically, lending institutions lend up to 75% of the bare land value of your site. Once the project is completed they may lend up to 80% of the total completed registered value of your house and land. Either way, the remainder of the funds have to come from you.

GET THE SITE PREPERATION RIGHT

Some work may have to be done on your property prior to the house arriving.

Once you have purchased the land and have selected a suitable house, as a condition of our contract, we will arrange for our Transport Manager to visit the site and discuss where the house should be placed and advise how obstacles such as trees, power lines or water races will affect the access for the house trailer. We will make suitable recommendations where required to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum.

7.

GET THE MOVE RIGHT

Insurance: Prior to your new home being placed onto the new foundations, you will need to enquire with your existing Insurance provider whether they will cover your home on a standard home insurance policy. Laing can arrange transit insurance cover.

Delivery & completion works: Once the building has been delivered and placed on the foundations, you will need to arrange for the services to be connected to the building. Following services connection decking, hard landscaping  etc can be completed by your builder/contractors or by Laing

8.

GET THE BUDGET RIGHT

At Laing we can show you how to prepare a budget to ensure that your relocation project proceeds as smoothly and hassle free as possible.
